CV
Prof. Mira Barda-Saad is a leading researcher in the field of molecular biology and immunology and has published dozens of articles that have been cited thousands of times in the scientific literature in Israel and around the world.
Her research in the field of immunology and cancer has made a significant contribution to the global scientific understanding of the mechanisms and processes that take place in immune cells and in cancer cells. Her hope is that the deep understanding and knowledge gained from such meticulous research will serve to develop drugs and treatments which will cure diseases that are currently incurable. In recent years, Prof. Barda-Saad's laboratory team has also been developing advanced immunotherapeutic strategies, including innovative methods for which patent applications have been submitted.
Prof. Barda-Saad pursued her academic career at Bar Ilan University, from her bachelor's degree to her PhD: She has a bachelor's degree in life sciences, cum laude, a master's degree in microbiology, cum laude, and a PhD in molecular and cellular biology in collaboration with the Weizmann Institute of Science - summa cum laude. She completed her post-doctoral fellowship at the Weizmann Institute of Science, where she investigated the field of molecular immunology.
Prof. Barda-Saad completed a second post-doctoral fellowship at the NIH National Cancer Institute and was granted a FARE award (Fellows Award for Research Excellence). She then returned to Bar Ilan University as a lecturer at the Mina and Everard Goodman Faculty of Life Sciences, and as a researcher leading a research team at a laboratory that bears her name.
These days, Prof. Barda-Saad continues her work as a senior lecturer and leads her laboratory team toward additional scientific breakthroughs. Prof. Barda-Saad served as the president of the Israel Immunological Society (2017-2020) and is now the president of ILANIT- the federation of 39 societies and associations for experimental biology in Israel (2020-present).
