Infectious Diseases Symposium: Innovative Approaches to Diagnosis and Research

On September 5-7 2023, an international conference on infectious diseases was held at Bar Ilan University, hosting experts from Israel, France, Switzerland, Vietnam, Germany, and Canada. The conference was led by Prof. Amos Danielli from the Faculty of Engineering and Prof. Avi Peretz from the Faculty of Medicine at Bar Ilan University, both members of the Dangoor Center for Personalized Medicine. The conference dealt with clinical and diagnostic issues related to infectious diseases of viral, bacterial and parasitic origin, as well as detecting the emergence of the next disease X. The goal of the conference was to establish a partnership plan for communication between the laboratory and clinicians on how to implement testing in clinical practice along international evidence-based and expert opinion guidelines.

Dangoor Center researchers presented their research at the conference;  Prof. Amos Danielli presented magnet-based technology for rapid and sensitive diagnosis of Zika, dengue, and West Nile viruses, Prof. Meir Shamay from the Faculty of Medicine spoke about monitoring Epstein-Barr virus-associated lymphoma tumor progression, and Prof. Avi Peretz covered the application of molecular diagnosis of sexually transmitted diseases in the community.
