Microbiome in the Service of Fighting Undernutrition

Prof. Omry Koren from the Azrieli Faculty of Medicine at Bar-Ilan University, together with his colleagues from the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization and the University of Paris (Paris Cité University) published a review article in "Nature Communications", one of the most important and prestigious scientific journals in the world. In the paper, the researchers review the relationship between undernutrition, which affects nearly one out of five children worldwide, stemming from biological and environmental factors among others, the microbiome, and the child's development in the first years of life. In addition, the researchers discuss the potential of the microbiome in undernutrition interventions.
