Prof. Shay Ben-Aroya and Prof. Erez Levanon awarded the NSF-BSF grant
Prof. Shay Ben-Aroya and Prof. Erez Levanon from the Mina and Everard Goodman Faculty of Life Sciences at Bar-Ilan University and members of The Dangoor Center for Personalized Medicine, together with their colleagues Prof. Peter Beal and Prof. Andrew Fisher from UC Davis in the USA, were awarded the prestigious Israeli-American Foundation NSF-BSF grant. A total of $305,386 for four years was given for their innovative research in the field of RNA editing. Their work focuses on the ADAR protein, which alters the RNA coding of the genome. The researchers use advanced genetic, computational, and structural analyses, to identify the elements leading to the strong, unique editing activity discovered in the ADAR proteins isolated from birds.
